Welcome friend, my name is Shay Rivet Coleman. Reiki and acupressure both work with the body’s energy system, but they do so in different ways and can complement one another beautifully.
Reiki is a gentle, noninvasive energy healing practice that focuses on supporting the body’s overall energetic balance. During a session, the practitioner channels healing energy through light touch or hands placed just above the body, helping the nervous system relax and encouraging the body’s natural healing response. Reiki works broadly and intuitively, often creating a sense of calm, emotional release, and energetic alignment.
Acupressure, on the other hand, is more targeted and physical. It uses firm but gentle pressure on specific points along the body’s meridians — the energy pathways recognized in Traditional Chinese Medicine. These points are often connected to areas where stress, tension, or discomfort tend to accumulate.
By stimulating those points, acupressure can help release physical tightness and encourage energy to move more freely through the body.
A simple way to explain the difference is that reiki supports the body’s overall energetic harmony, while acupressure focuses on specific areas that may feel blocked, tense, or depleted.
Many people find the combination especially beneficial because reiki creates deep relaxation and energetic balance, while acupressure gives added attention to places where the body may be holding stress or stagnation physically and energetically.
